Foster Carers Medication Module

Half Day Course

This module is based upon our Key Medication Module which is fully accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
It is delivered by a fully qualified Pharmacist or a GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician.
It is aimed at foster carers who of course look after young people in their own homes.

The module provides theoretical knowledge, the practical assessment of competency being carried out by the line manager. The module includes: the law & regulations including CQC, all about drugs and medicines & their journey through the body and how they work. The common side effects & adverse drug reactions, the administration of topical medicines e.g. eye, ear and nose drops, inhalers, patches, personal products, patient owned medication and the 6 Rights of Administration including record keeping, self-administration, covert medication and the use of monitored dosage systems.

The module is 5 hours in duration, a workbook is provided and a certificate on successful completion of the multi choice assessment
